Byrd Legal Counsel is dedicated to providing affordable, high quality legal services to everyone, in an environment free of prejudice. 

We care about you and are committed to helping you reach your legal goals in the most efficient way at the least expense to you.  We understand that, while we are your legal representative, it is your legal matter.  Our goal is to provide you with an honest assessment so that you can make the most informed decision possible.

Byrd Legal Counsel is a law firm that believes in good corporate citizenship. Kim Byrd is Treasurer of the National LGBT Bar Association, a member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association, the HCBA Family Law Section, the HCBA Diversity Committee, the Family Law Inns of Court, a cooperating attorney for NCLR and a volunteer attorney with Bay Area Legal Services, Inc.  In the past he served as a Director of the Center of Tampa Bay and a volunteer lawyer for Florida Disaster Legal Services, offering free legal services to hurricane victims.

O. KIM BYRD, ESQ.
Kim is a native of the Florida Panhandle. He was born in Niceville and grew up in Ponce de Leon. He excelled in high school academics and moved on to the University of Florida after two years at Okaloosa-Walton Community College. While attending UF, Kim spent one summer as an employee at Disney World, where he learned a great deal about customer service.

After graduating from the University of Florida, Kim relocated to New York City to attend New York Law School. During his second year at NYLS, he met his life partner, Brian Winfield, and they have been together for the past 22 years.

After graduating from law school and working for a New York firm for over 7 years, Kim returned to the Florida Panhandle with his partner Brian, where they briefly lived with their two dogs, Aggie and Ellie, and two horses, Snickers and Red.

Kim, Brian and Aggie relocated to Tampa Bay in late 1997 because they recognized the friendly and welcoming environment Tampa provides. Both Kim and Brian are highly active community members.
