O. KIM BYRD, ESQ.

 

Kim Byrd has been involved in the practice of law since 1989. He began working with the Given's Law Group in early 2011 after running his own Tampa-based law firm for more than 10 year. Kim remains dedicated to providing affordable, high quality legal services to everyone, in an environment free of prejudice. 

Kim he is a member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association, the HCBA Family Law Section, the HCBA Diversity Committee, the Family Law Inns of Court, a cooperating attorney for NCLR and was selected as a "Volunteer Attorney of the Year" by Bay Area Legal Services, Inc.  In the past he served as a Director of the Center of Tampa Bay and a volunteer lawyer for Florida Disaster Legal Services. He currently serves a Past-President of the National LGBT Bar Association.

Kim is a native of the Florida Panhandle. He was born in Niceville and grew up in Ponce de Leon. He excelled in high school academics and moved on to the University of Florida after two years at Okaloosa-Walton Community College. While attending UF, Kim spent one summer as an employee at Disney World, where he learned a great deal about customer service.

After graduating from the University of Florida, Kim relocated to New York City to attend New York Law School. During his second year at NYLS, he met his life partner, Brian Winfield, and they have been together for the past 25 years.

After graduating from law school and working for a New York firm for over 7 years, Kim returned to the Florida Panhandle, where he and Brian briefly lived with their two dogs, Aggie and Ellie, and two horses, Snickers and Red.

Kim and Brian relocated to Tampa Bay in late 1997 because they recognized the friendly and welcoming environment Tampa provides. Both Kim and Brian are highly active community members.
